Planning Commission

The Town of Rice Lake Planning Commission was created in 1997 for the purpose of creating a Master Plan for the Town.  Such a Plan was adopted in Sept. 1998, and is currently being revised to meet the statutory requirements of Smart Growth legislation.  The Planning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Municipal Bldg, 1830 Macauley Ave., Rice Lake, except when such date falls on an election and the commission sets an alternative date at the preceding meeting.  All land use requests for variances, special exceptions, rezoning, and subdivisions must be reviewed by the Planning Commission which then makes a recommendation to the Town Board.  For a request to be placed on the Commission‘s monthly agenda, a Land Use Application must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the scheduled meeting.

The Commission is composed of seven citizen members, and in addition, the Town Engineer is an ex officio member.  Members hold office for staggered terms of three years and are appointed by the Chairperson of the Commission and confirmed by the Town Board.
