Voter Registration –
Check your voter registration status at My Vote Wisconsin. We strongly encourage you to register to vote prior to Election Day. If you have moved or changed your name since you last voted, you need to re-register.
After October 14, 2020 registration can only occur in-person at the town clerk’s office or at the polling place on Election Day. Click here for a “Voter Registration Guide”, a voter registration application, and a list of acceptable forms of “Proof of Residence” which is required to complete your voter registration.
Absentee Voting –
You may request to vote an absentee ballot by mail for the November 3, 2020 General Election through My Vote Wisconsin. Ballots will be mailed within 1 business day for all other requests received by 5:00 pm on October 29th. Ballots can be returned via mail (postage is prepaid), in-person at the clerk’s office, in the town’s official ballot drop box located on the west side of the Town Hall, or at the polls until 8:00 pm on November 3, 2020.
In-person absentee voting for the November 3 General Election will take place at the Town Hall beginning Tuesday, October 20 through Friday, October 30. Open hours will be Mondays – Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. or by appointment.

Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Mailings.
2020 is a Presidential Election year, which means you will soon be finding voter registration forms and absentee ballot request forms in your mailbox. These mailings are not from your municipal clerk, even though they may appear to be. They are sent by special interest groups and the pre-filled voter information on the forms is often inaccurate. To ensure you are properly registered or to apply for an absentee ballot, please visit My Vote Wisconsin or contact the Town of Rice Lake Clerk’s Office at 715-234-8087 or email [email protected].
On September 1, 2020, the Wisconsin Elections Commission will be mailing information about voting in November to approximately 2.6 million registered Wisconsin voters who have not already requested an absentee ballot. The information packet will include an absentee request form and a postage-paid reply envelope. WEC encourages voters who choose to vote absentee to request their ballot as soon as possible, whether online or by mail, and remember to include a copy of your photo ID with the application.
